Identifying a rat problem in your property can be challenging so here is a handy guide to help you follow the clues left by rats or mice.
Droppings – Dark brown to black and about the size of a Malteser in the shape of a rugby ball for rats; but for mice I say black grains of rice.
Damaged food – Food wrappers being found in unusual places or a mound of food items be it bread or dog biscuits due to rodents hiding food
Footprints – rat prints can often be seen on dusty surfaces along with tale swipes.
Damage from gnawing – Base of doors and skirtings where rodents try to make gaps larger so they can get through; chewed cables when your fridge or oven has unexpectedly gone off
Noises – rodents are active at night and their moving about in the dead of night in the ceiling or loft, or moving up and down the cavity walls may be keeping you awake.
